Why Ed Sheeran 'Can't Picture' Headlining A Super Bowl Performance

Ed Sheeran doesn't think he is the best candidate to head up a Super Bowl performance.

During an appearance on the April 8 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the "Azizam" singer explained to host Alex Cooper why he believes he isn't the best artist to headline a Super Bowl Halftime Show despite his massive success. Sheeran noted that while some English musicians have the "pizazz" for the performance, he is not one of them, even sharing that he thinks his music catalog "doesn't really lend itself" to that kind of setting, per Billboard.

"I don't think English artists ... there are some that have the pizazz of Super Bowl, fireworks, dancers... but me going up there and being like, 'Here's 'The A Team' and here's 'Perfect,' no one wants to see that," he said.

However, he's not totally against showing up as a supporting act. The "Shape of You" hitmaker believes he could "nail one song" as a guest for some other performer.

"I can't picture myself doing it," he said. "I would definitely go on and do it with someone, just to do the Super Bowl, but I don't think my set lends itself to that... You've gotta do what suits you."

Elsewhere in the episode, Sheeran made a rare comment about his longtime friendship with Taylor Swift, looking back at the times they traveled together to and from different gigs over the years.
